Blessed
with a warm, mild climate, Oregon’s rainy reputation
somehow bypassed the Rogue Valley. On average, the sun shines
213 days a year here. Rainfall averages about 18 inches.
Warm, mild springs create a long growing season to benefit
both home gardeners and the many vineyards and orchards throughout
the valley.
In summer, temperatures of 85 to 90 degrees or more are common
but the area’s many lakes and rivers offer ample opportunities
to cool off.
By fall, pleasant, sunny days in the 60s and 70s are the norm,
perfect for outings to view the changing colors on the abundant
variety of trees.
In winter, temperatures seldom dip below freezing and snow
is infrequent, with usually no more than an inch or two per
year. But for those who seek fresh powder, Medford is only
about 45 minutes from the ski slopes of 7,533 foot Mt. Ashland.
