Whether
it’s world class theater at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival
or down-home fun at the Jackson County Fair, Southern Oregon
and the Rogue Valley is a non-stop stage for entertainment
and good times. All year around, performances, celebrations
and activities abound. Here are a few highlights:
Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater, Medford
Throughout the year, the theater brings a variety of musical,
vocal, dance and theatrical performances by national and local
artists to the Southern Oregon community.
Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival,
Ashland In addition to the works of Shakespeare,
the company stages modern and classic plays in three venues.
The season runs February through October, with 780 performances
attended by over 360,000 people.
Britt Music Festival, Jacksonville
This 43-year-old festival offers world class musical performances
in a gorgeous outdoor location during a 3-month summer schedule.
Harvest Festivals Several local celebrations
of the season are held each fall, highlighted by the Jackson
County Harvest Festival and the Pheasant Fields Harvest Festival
with pumpkin patches and face painting.
Art in Bloom Festival, Medford
An annual Mother’s Day Weekend celebration of fine art,
flowers, wine and food tasting in the city’s historic
downtown.
Medford Cruise This 3-day classic car show
in June with live entertainment benefits the local Boys and
Girls Club.
Jazz Jubilee, Medford Dixieland, blues, swing
and traditional jazz performances at seven locations, plus
food and dancing make this 3-day festival in October a huge
hit.
Lithia Motors Amphitheater at Jackson County Fairgrounds,
Central Point Newly completed, the outdoor
amphitheater provides a 5,800-seat capacity venue for presenting
regional and headline concerts, theater and other productions
in Southern Oregon.
